Who Is Your Ideal Client?

Who Is Your Ideal Client?

Let’s talk about marketing foundations and how to identify your target audience. This is super important because when you go to market your tradie business, you need to make sure you’re targeting the right people with your message. For example, if your target client is a 30-year-old male, the messaging to connect with him is going to be completely different from a 55-year-old woman.

So, it’s vital to identify who you’re trying to target in your tradie business so that you can create the right message that will connect and get you the best results. You have to figure out who you want to work for and who your ideal client is. And let me tell you, the ideal client is the gold standard.

Not everyone’s going to fit into that category, but it’s your objective to try to get as close to that gold standard as possible. A lot of people don’t take the time to think this through and identify who their marketing needs to appeal to.

So, here’s an overview of the steps and how to do it:

01: You need to identify the age of your target client. The more specific you are, the better. Having a range between 25 and 65 is okay, but what’s the age range of your ideal client? Maybe it’s 50-60 or 40-45. It’s unique to everyone’s business, but it’s something you need to think about.

02: You need to determine the gender you’re targeting. The messaging will be completely unique and different in both cases.

03: Think about the location. Consider your local area and where your ideal client is likely to be located. It’s not about being judgmental but finding the highest concentration of your ideal clients.

04: Determine the personal circumstances or family dynamics of your ideal client. What do they do for work? Are they tradespeople, business owners, corporates, or something else? Consider family dynamics, whether they’re single or married, have kids or not, and the age of their children.

05: What are their interests? Where do they spend their time, what do they do on weekends, where do they shop, what kind of cars do they drive, what sports do they play, and what community activities are they interested in? The more you can understand your ideal client, the more targeted your message can be.

So, the best way to do that is to look at where your clients are already hanging out on mass. Look for opportunities where you can really tailor your message. This way, the likelihood of your marketing message being consumed by an ideal client is really high compared to a broadcast marketing message.

Get out there and find your ideal clients! It’s time to tailor your marketing campaigns and get the results you want for your tradie business. Remember, the ideal client is the gold standard, and we can get as close to it as possible with a little effort and creativity!
