Google My Business for Tradies

Google My Business for Tradies

The internet has changed how we do business. How likely are you to jump on Google to find, well, anything and everything these days?

Setting up a Google My Business is easy and so beneficial. You can get clients to add photos and leave reviews which is hugely beneficial in swaying a customer to choose you instead of your competitors in your local area.

1: Sign into Google

If you don’t have an account, it’s free to set one up. Once you’ve got one, head over to the Google My Business page.

2: Enter Your Business Details

Business name, location, website, opening hours etc go here. Be as detailed and accurate as possible. You’ll also choose a category here that best describes your business. You can choose more than one if you do Air Con and Electrical, for example.

3: Verify Your Business

Google will send a postcard to your business address with a verification code. Once received, you can pop the code into your account and the verification process will be complete.

4: Add Images

Add high quality photos! This can be off you and your team and of some jobs you’ve completed. Try and get your team or some branding in any images of the site, they can often be quite boring images that could belong to anyone, so having you or something that links your company into the image is always good. Don’t forget to be smiling in the photos – Remember, you want the customer to want to have you in their home to complete the job. First impressions count!

5: Write a Business Description

Make sure you highlight your experience, qualifications and any special or unique sercices you offer here. Make the tone fun and engaging by letting your personality come through – think personal, not robotic!

6: Respond to Reviews

Reviews are super powerful for building trust and credibility with potential customers. How many times have you checked some reviews before booking a restaurant or a mechanic? It’s the same for trades! Respond to all reviews, positive or negative. The effort goes a long way and the client feels seen and heard!

7: Keep GMB Up to Date

Update your hours, address and contact info as and when needed – don’t let any information become outdated or wrong. Keeping images fresh and responding to reviews regularly will help keep you visible and competitive in your local area.
